Video Highlight for Claude

Add Video Highlight to Claude in a couple of minutes. Claude can then search your library by what was said, read your summaries and transcripts, and answer with a link to the exact moment. It only ever reads.

Endpoint

https://mcp.videohighlight.com/mcp

What Claude can do with it

Real capabilities only. Every tool is read-only.

Find the right video

Claude searches your library by what was actually said, not just titles, and surfaces the matching moment with its timestamp.

Read a summary

Claude reads a video's saved AI summary in the language you ask for, when a summary already exists.

Quote with timestamps

Claude pulls the timestamped transcript so answers cite the exact second, not a paraphrase.

Browse and confirm

Claude lists the videos you have summaries for, page by page, and confirms which account is connected.

OAuth sign-in

Claude opens a Video Highlight consent screen in your browser. You approve access, and Claude receives an access token for the read-only tools. No password is shared, and you never paste a key or password into the chat. You can disconnect at any time from Settings, Connectors in Claude.

Read-only, by design

The connector can find, read and cite your videos, and nothing more. It cannot generate summaries, transcribe, upload, create highlights or notes, edit playlists, export, delete, or change your billing. Every call is scoped to your own account.

Frequently asked questions

What can Claude do with my library?

It is read-only. Claude can search your library, list your videos, read a video's saved summary and its timestamped transcript, read the highlights you saved, and confirm which account is connected. It cannot generate summaries, transcribe, upload, create highlights or notes, edit playlists, export, delete, or change your billing.

Why does Claude ask permission before each tool?

Claude starts every new connector tool at "Needs approval" and asks before the first use. All seven Video Highlight tools are read-only, so setting them to "Always allow" in Claude's tool permissions is safe. Nothing the connector can do changes your account.

How does sign-in work?

Sign in with OAuth. Claude opens a Video Highlight consent screen in your browser, you approve access, and no password is shared.

Do I paste anything into the chat?

No. Sign-in happens in your browser through a Video Highlight consent screen. You never paste a key or password into the conversation.

Can Claude create, edit or delete anything?

No. Every tool the connector exposes is read-only. To generate a summary, transcribe a recording, upload a file, or make highlights and notes, use videohighlight.com.

Do I need a Video Highlight account?

Yes, a free one. Sign up at videohighlight.com with the same email you use to sign in to the connector, because the connector matches you to your library by email.

What if my library is empty?

That is a normal state for a new connection. Process your first video at videohighlight.com by pasting a YouTube, Vimeo or Dailymotion link, or uploading a recording, and it will appear to Claude.

Where do I get help?

Email support@videohighlight.com. Our privacy policy at videohighlight.com/privacy-policy explains how connector data is handled.

Hours of video. Minutes of reading.

Researchers, professionals, and creators use it on YouTube videos and on their own recordings
