Setup

Menu names are ChatGPT's and change now and then. Each step says what the control does.

    Turn on Developer mode

    In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps and connectors, then Advanced settings, and switch on Developer mode. In a workspace, an admin may need to allow it first.

    Create the connector

    Choose Create, name it Video Highlight, paste the endpoint URL and set authentication to OAuth. Confirm that you trust the connector if ChatGPT asks, then click Create.

    Sign in

    A Video Highlight sign-in page opens in your browser. Sign in the way you signed up, with Google or your email, using the email of your library. If you have no account yet, one is created from the email you use.

    Switch it on in a chat

    In a new chat, open the tools menu next to the message box, choose Developer mode and enable Video Highlight for that conversation. Then ask about a video you have summarized.

Access and privacy

What ChatGPT can read

Your library: the videos you have summarized, their summaries and timestamped transcripts, and the highlights and notes you saved. Nothing else on your account, and nothing outside it. It cannot add, summarize, edit or delete anything.

How sign-in works

OAuth, in your browser. ChatGPT receives a token for the read-only tools; no password or key is shared, and nothing is pasted into a chat. Remove the connector any time under Apps and connectors.

Questions

Do I need ChatGPT Plus?

Today, yes: Developer mode needs Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu. Once the directory listing is live, the connector is available on every plan that supports apps.

Why do I switch it on in each chat?

In Developer mode, ChatGPT uses a connector only in the conversations where you enable it. ChatGPT may also ask you to confirm before it calls a tool.

Do I need a Video Highlight account first?

No. Sign in with any email and a free account is created for you. It starts empty, so add a video at videohighlight.com before you ask about it.

ChatGPT says my library is empty

Either the library is new, or you signed in with a different email from your Video Highlight account. Remove the connector, add it again, and sign in with the right email.

How do I disconnect?

Remove Video Highlight under Apps and connectors, or switch it off in Developer mode for a conversation. To revoke the authorization on our side as well, email support@videohighlight.com.
