Field Sampling Procedures

Sample Check-in Process

• Upon return to base, a field management personnel member should immediately check in samples, laying them out in numerical order for inspection.

• Drainage samples must have their lids removed and be positioned with the site number clearly visible. All samples require inspection before check-in.

• Ensure that water sample bottles are properly labeled and filled: larger 60 mL marked ‘F/A’ should be full, while the smaller 30 mL marked ‘F/UA’ should contain minimal air.

• Confirm that sediment sample ‘C’ is leak-free and matches other samples' site numbers; a stream sediment sample must accompany any heavy mineral panned concentrate sample.

• Gather all samples by type and field hundred batch for transport back to the laboratory, ensuring proper drying of stream sediment samples.

Soil Sample Management

• Soil samples should be laid out numerically, with ‘A’ and ‘S’ samples arranged in separate rows corresponding to their sites.

• Each brown Kraft® paper bag must be intact, correctly sealed, and labeled on the front. Issues during collection need discussion with the sampling team.
