Types of Professional Competencies

Development and Evaluation of Competencies

• Technical competencies are typically learned through formal education, training, or work experience. They are easier to demonstrate through qualifications like degrees or certifications.

• In contrast, behavioral competencies are harder to assess since they cannot be easily identified on resumes or cover letters. Employers often need to wait until interviews or initial weeks of employment to evaluate these skills effectively.
