Designing a 200-Meter High House
Foundation and Structural Considerations
- To build a house over 200 meters high, at least one-fifteenth of the foundation must be buried underground.
- The deep foundation structure intersects with existing subway tunnels, necessitating innovative design solutions.
Innovative Design Solutions
- A large central atrium is created by cutting through the house from bottom to top, aligning with the subway tunnel's path.
- The core structure is distributed on either side of the tunnel, connecting two parts of the building with thin glass curtain walls.
Spatial Dynamics and Aesthetics
- A straight atrium extending over 200 meters can create a feeling of oppression; thus, it is rotated upwards by 45 degrees at its peak.
- The long edges of the atrium align with city roads, enhancing visual connectivity and urban integration.
Enhancing Stability and Flow
- To improve stability, circular horizontal frames are added at various heights along the building's length.
- These frames also serve as sky bridges linking functional spaces on both sides of the building.
Final Touches to Space Design
- Two sets of double spiral semi-circular spaces are cut away from each side of the atrium to enrich spatial layering.
- This design culminates in a complex yet harmonious architectural solution that balances aesthetics and functionality.
