V4 - ¿Qué características debe tener la pregunta de investigación?
Understanding Research Questions
The Importance of Research Questions
- The development of knowledge, both vulgar and scientific, has been driven by the human capacity to ask questions over time.
- In research contexts, questions have specific characteristics that are crucial for effective inquiry.
- A well-formulated question focuses on what is unknown about a problem or need and emphasizes the complexity of the study object.
Characteristics of Effective Research Questions
- Responses to research questions should be obtained through empirical means that can be observed with evidence.
- Ambiguity in question formulation should be avoided; it is recommended to use interrogative pronouns (qué, por qué, para qué, cuándo, quiénes), ensuring they are properly accented and punctuated.
Examples of Good vs. Poor Research Questions
- An example of a poor question: "¿Cuántos proyectos de biocombustibles existen en Ecuador?" as it yields a simple answer without relevant data.
- A better example would focus on specifics: "¿Qué indicadores y estudios revelan que los cultivos destinados a los biocombustibles emiten mayor cantidad de CO2 que los combustibles fósiles?" which clarifies the type of cultivation involved.
