Monitoring Agents Overview

This section provides an overview of monitoring agents and how they work.

What are Monitoring Agents?

  • Monitoring agents are parts of the Digimind software that automatically track the internet for you.
  • They work with two sets of information: filters and sources.
  • The agents check the sources that you are interested in, constantly looking for new information.
  • They bring back only those posts that match the filter, which we call findings alerts.

Creating a Monitoring Agent

  • To create a monitoring agent, go to the settings of your platform and select one of your projects.
  • From the Monitoring tab, click on “Create a monitoring”.
  • A project can contain multiple monitoring agents.
  • To add additional monitorings, click on “Advanced Settings” and select “Add New Monitoring”.

Naming Your Monitoring Agent

This section explains how to name your monitoring agent effectively.

Choosing a Name

  • When selecting a name for your monitoring agent, keep in mind that your agents will be organized in alphanumeric order.
  • Using a common name structure will help you easily find all the monitoring agents that cover the same theme.
  • For example, use the name of the project - scope of agent - type of source tracked.

Viewing Your Agents

  • To see all the monitoring agents associated with a project, click on the arrow button to display the drop-down menu.

Adding Filters and Sources

This section explains how to add filters and sources to your monitoring agent.

Adding Filters

  • We recommend creating filters before adding any sources.
  • At the top of the monitoring agent page, click on the filter icon.
  • You can construct filters using lists of entities already added to your platform or by adding keywords directly into query writer.

Adding Sources

  • There are three types of sources that you can add: query sources, packs of sources, or custom sources.
  • Custom sources are great when you know exactly where to find the information that you are looking for.
  • Source Packs allow you to go beyond your custom sources, using Digimind’s URL Store which contains a collection of over 100 000 news and RSS feeds.
  • Using queries, you can track information that has been recently indexed by different search engines.

Checking Alerts

This section explains how to check alerts collected by your monitoring agents.

Viewing Alerts

  • You can check the alerts collected by your newly set up monitoring agents in the Reader module.
  • Go to Alerts and select the monitoring agent whose results you want to check.
  • The alerts will be displayed on the right.

Fine-Tuning Results

  • To fine-tune results, click on “More” - then “See agent”.
  • This will take you straight back to the settings of your monitoring.
  • You can limit noise by editing filters or improving sources.
