Bellevue, Washington — On December 12, 2025, around 12:30 p.m., a man later identified as 38-year-old Mohamed Morray Bangura called 911 to report what he claimed was a domestic violence dispute at the Bellevue Transit Center. According to investigators, the caller told dispatchers that a man and woman were arguing and that the situation was escalating, prompting officers from the Bellevue Police Department to respond. Police later alleged that the report was fabricated and that no such disturbance was taking place at the transit hub. When two officers arrived within minutes, they made contact with Bangura, who matched the description associated with the 911 call. Body camera footage shows the officers calmly questioning him about the reported dispute. During the brief conversation, Bangura suddenly pulled a knife from his jacket pocket and charged at the officers.
The encounter quickly escalated into a violent struggle that left one officer seriously injured and ended with another officer firing his weapon to stop the attack. Authorities say the officer was slashed across the face and stabbed in the back during the sudden attack. Both the wounded officer and Bangura were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment and survived their injuries. The case is now moving through the courts in King County Superior Court, where Bangura has pleaded not guilty to first- and second-degree assault charges, each carrying deadly weapon enhancements. Prosecutors allege the 911 call was intentionally fabricated to draw officers to the transit hub, describing the encounter as a deliberate ambush.
