In this section, the speaker introduces and labels the components of an X-ray tube, emphasizing the significance of understanding these structures for X-ray physics exams.
Labeling X-ray Tube Components
The cathode and anode are crucial structures in the X-ray tube for X-ray physics exams. Understanding their functions is essential.
Components like the electron beam, filament on the cathode, actual focal spots, anode stem, and stator rotors play key roles in X-ray production.
The glass envelope containing the cathode and anode maintains a vacuum to allow electrons to travel unobstructed towards the anode for energy deposition at focal spots.
Production and Control of X-rays
X-rays are produced at focal spots on the anode and exit through an x-ray window made of aluminum or beryllium that filters out lower energy x-rays not contributing to imaging.

*Not sure if the question banks are for you?*
If you're here, you're likely studying for a radiology physics exam. I've spent the last few months collating past papers from multiple different countries selecting the most commonly asked questions. You'll be surprised how often questions repeat themselves!
The types of questions asked in FRCR, RANZCR AIT, ARRT, FC Rad Diag (SA), ABR qualifying Core Physics and MICR part 1 are surprisingly similar and the key concepts remain the same throughout. I've taken the most high-yield questions and answered them in video format so that I can take you through why certain answers are correct and others are not.
Happy studying,
Michael
