Using Soccer to Help Street Children

This video showcases how organizations like Street Child United use soccer to help street children around the world. The video follows Darren as he meets with Adam, the head of Street Child United Brazil, and Rika, a former street child who now advocates for children's rights.

Street Child United Brazil

• Street Child United Brazil was set up as a safe place for street children to play and have fun.

• The area where they work is dangerous, with people walking around carrying machine guns.

• Rika, a former street child who went through their leadership program and played on their championship team in 2014, is now an influential advocate for children's rights.

I Am Somebody World Cup

• Street Child United hosts the I Am Somebody World Cup every four years to bring together teams from all over the world.

• In addition to playing soccer matches, the kids get an opportunity to share their experiences and learn about other cultures.

• They also get to train one-on-one with professional players.

Finals and Sponsorship

• After preliminary matches, eight boys' teams and eight girls' teams remain in the tournament.

• Top 11 mobile game sponsors this video and helps support Street Child United's mission.

• Egypt wins the championship for the boys while Brazil faces off against Colombia in the final match for girls.

Helping More Children

• To help more children get birth registration documents and passports so they can compete in future tournaments, 1,000 more kids will be sponsored by this project.
