Digital Distribution and Phonographic Rights in Argentina
Overview of ADIF and Its Role
The Argentine Association of Interpreters (ADIF) focuses on the management and collection of rights related to phonograms, which are sound recordings.
ADIF is responsible for collecting payments from public communication channels such as radio, television, theaters, shopping centers, and hotels.
Revenue Distribution Process
Revenue collected by ADIF is distributed as follows: 66% to ADIF, 33% to CAPIF (the Argentine Chamber of Phonogram Producers), and 1% to the National Arts Fund.
Payments are made directly into bank accounts; members can also receive checks if they haven't provided banking details.
Membership Registration
New members must register in person at one of several locations across Argentina before accessing online services.
Once registered, members can manage their accounts online through the ADIF portal where they declare their recording contributions.
Declaration Process for Recordings
Each musician involved in a recording must submit a declaration; this includes physical albums or digital singles.
For digital releases, producers must provide documentation including a letter confirming the release, links to distribution platforms like Spotify, UPC codes, track details, and participant information.
Important Documentation Requirements
Musicians need to include detailed information about their contributions when declaring recordings. This includes names, identification numbers, instruments played, etc.
