Overview of Garden Santa Fe

• The Garden Santa Fe is the first and only underground shopping mall in Latin America, located in Mexico City’s financial district, Santa Fe.

• It consists of six levels entirely below ground, reaching a depth of approximately 35 meters while only protruding about 3 meters above the surface.

Purpose and Design Challenges

• Inaugurated in 2014, it was developed by Grupo Copri in collaboration with Grupo Carso to create a unique shopping experience.

• The main challenge was to design an underground space that did not evoke feelings of being buried or claustrophobic for its visitors.

• Architects implemented large inverted glass cones to facilitate natural light entry into the mall, enhancing the overall atmosphere.
