Inventory Cost Analysis
- Assuming a cost of goods sold (COGS) of 540 with an inventory turnover period of 45 days, divide COGS by 360 to get daily costs and multiply by turnover days to find investment requirements in inventory totaling 6750.
Minimum Operating Cash Requirement
- To determine minimum operational cash balance, consider five days' worth of sales; dividing total sales by 360 gives daily requirements which when multiplied by five yields a cash requirement of 1250. Thus, total required current assets sum up to 155.
Assessing Current Liabilities
- Next, assess how much support will come from suppliers (operating current liabilities). Using a payment term example of 30 days for suppliers alongside previously calculated COGS allows for determining financing amounts provided by suppliers at approximately 45.
