Emergency Response Protocols

Initial Assessment and Response

  • The responder approaches the victim, ensuring the area is safe before checking the patient's responsiveness.
  • If the patient does not respond, assistance is requested as they are alone in this situation.
  • The responder recalls the "chin lift" maneuver to open the airway, emphasizing a maximum of 10 seconds for assessment.
  • It is confirmed that the patient is unconscious but breathing, indicating a critical state requiring immediate action.

Positioning the Patient

  • The responder must place the patient in a lateral recovery position for safety.
  • The arm closest to them is positioned at a 90-degree angle while securing the opposite wrist near the neck area.
  • A leg on the same side as the bent arm is also folded inward to assist with positioning.
