Primeros auxilios en caso de fractura
What to Do in Case of a Fracture?
Understanding Fractures
- A fracture is defined as the partial or total break of a bone, leading to severe pain, loss of movement, deformation, and swelling in the affected area.
- There are two types of fractures:
- Closed fracture: The skin remains intact.
- Open fracture: The broken bone pierces through the skin.
Immediate Response to a Fracture
- It is crucial not to move the affected person until immobilization is achieved. This prevents further injury.
- To immobilize, hold above and below the fracture site and use another part of the body (like a bandage) for support.
- After stabilization, it’s essential to transfer the patient to a hospital immediately for professional medical care.
Precautions Before Medical Help Arrives
- If the affected person is unconscious or anesthetized, do not allow them to smoke, eat, or drink anything before medical assistance arrives.
