FORMAL LETTER STRUCTURE 📝| How to write a letter correctly
New Section
In this short video, the layout of a letter is explained. The video covers various elements such as the writer's address, recipient's name and address, greeting, main body of the letter, closing sentence, and signing off.
Layout of a Letter
- The top right-hand corner contains the writer's address. Below that is where the date is placed.
- In the left-hand corner, we find the recipient's name and address. The recipient is the person receiving the letter.
- The greeting comes after addressing the recipient. It can be "Dear [Name]" or "Dear Sir/Madam" if unsure about their name.
- The opening of the letter follows the greeting. Start with stating your reason for writing and provide information about each point in separate paragraphs.
- Use paragraphs to discuss different points in detail. Each paragraph can focus on one point or topic.
- Conclude the main body of the letter with a closing sentence that summarizes your points or outlines next steps or requests (e.g., apology, refund, job details).
- End with a closing salutation such as "Sincerely" or "Faithfully," followed by your name.
