He Controlled His Immune System on Purpose 😱
How Does Breathing Technique Affect Inflammation?
The Experiment with Endotoxin
- A subject was injected with endotoxin, a component of dead bacteria that typically induces fever, pain, and flu-like symptoms. Remarkably, he remained calm and controlled his breathing, exhibiting almost no symptoms.
- Blood analysis revealed extremely low levels of inflammatory proteins in the subject after the endotoxin injection, suggesting an unusual response to the treatment.
Training and Results
- To investigate if this response was unique to the initial subject, 12 healthy men underwent training by Wim Hof for four days. They learned specific breathing techniques, cold exposure methods, and mental focus strategies.
- A control group of another 12 individuals received no training at all. Both groups were subsequently injected with the same endotoxin to compare their reactions.
- The untrained group exhibited typical symptoms associated with endotoxin exposure, while the trained group demonstrated significantly reduced inflammation levels.
