PowerInspect 2018 Essential Skills – Tutorial 1 – Introduction

Inspection Devices Overview

Introduction to Inspection Programs

  • The tutorial aims to assist users in creating an inspection program and understanding the inspection process using Power Inspect.

Types of Inspection Devices

  • Manual Articulated Arms: Portable devices ideal for measuring assemblies, sheet metal parts, and fabrications due to their transportability.
  • Non-contact Scanning Systems: Such as laser scanners, these are used for rapid measurement of complex surfaces or deformable parts. They can be attached to articulated arms or have separate tracking devices.
  • Laser Trackers: Suitable for large parts and assemblies, offering portability and accurate measurements over extensive scanning volumes.
  • CNC Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs): Industry standard for high accuracy automated inspections; effective for both prismatic and complex freeform parts.
