Quality Policy and Objectives
This section discusses the quality policy within an organization, its components, and the importance of aligning objectives with this policy.
Quality Policy Components
- The quality policy is the organization's global intention regarding quality, expressed by top management. It should be appropriate for the organization's purposes, frame quality objectives, and include a commitment to meeting requirements and continuous improvement.
- The quality policy focuses on three main commitments: fulfilling requirements, preventing losses, and enhancing performance. It considers requirements from authorities, customers, owners, suppliers, staff, and society.
Importance of Quality Policy Understanding
- The quality policy serves as the organization's introduction by stating its activities, goals, work methods, and commitments. It should be auditable and understood at all levels of the organization rather than memorized.
Quality Objectives Alignment
- Quality objectives are specific, achievable goals that guide expected quality planning in an organization. They must align with the quality policy according to ISO 9001 standards by being coherent with it, measurable, relevant for product/service conformity while considering applicable requirements.
