Understanding the Spirit

The Creation of Humanity

• We were created by God in His image and likeness, embodying spirit, soul, and body.

• 1 Thessalonians 5:23 emphasizes that our entire being—spirit, soul, and body—should be preserved blameless until the coming of Jesus Christ.

The Fall and Spiritual Death

• Sin caused spiritual death, separating humanity from God's glory; this is rooted in Genesis 1:26-27 where God created man to have dominion over all living things.

• The distinction of humans as made in God's image sets us apart from all creation.

Instructions from God

• In Genesis 2:16-17, God instructs Adam not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, warning that disobedience leads to death. This highlights the seriousness of sin.

Spiritual Awakening through Christ

• Jesus refers to those who are spiritually dead in Matthew 8:22, calling believers to a life of service rather than being consumed by worldly concerns.
