• To determine if the pig's hand is right or left, examine the proximal bones: carpal radial and accessory carpal.

• If the accessory carpal is lateral, it indicates a left hand; size of phalanges can also help in identification.

Starting the Dissection

Initial Steps

• Begin with a longitudinal cut along the entire length of the pig's hand using a scalpel.

• Carefully remove skin with tweezers to avoid cutting any tendons; this reveals fascia and fat layers beneath.

Dorsal Side Examination

• On the dorsal side, identify extensor tendons for fingers two through four.

• The extensor tendon for finger three originates from its respective muscle on the medial surface.
