Proper Technique for Standing Calf Raise

In this section, the instructor demonstrates the proper technique for doing a standing calf raise.

Steps for Proper Technique

  • Step under the bar and up onto the platform.
  • Unrack it and place feet just about hip width apart.
  • Squeeze all the way up onto the tips of toes almost squeezing at the top.
  • Control it back down with a slight pause at the bottom before coming back up.
  • Get that little pause at the bottom before squeezing back up.

Tips to Avoid Tendon Damage

  • Do not bounce back up as it uses tendons instead of muscles.
