ELLO, YO Y SUPERYÓ.
Understanding Freud's Psychoanalytic Theory
The Structure of Personality
- Sigmund Freud proposed that personality is shaped by the interactions between three entities in our psyche: the id, ego, and superego.
- The id represents our primal instincts, seeking immediate pleasure without considering consequences. It embodies our most basic desires such as hunger and aggression.
- The superego reflects societal norms and morals, instilled by parents, teachers, and religious leaders. It generates feelings of guilt when we act against these moral standards.
The Conflict Between Id and Superego
- There exists a continuous conflict between the id (what we want to do) and the superego (what we should do). This tension creates internal struggles within individuals.
