Em 2016, uma foto do americano Johnny Miller (https://www.instagram.com/johnny_miller_photography) na Cidade do Cabo, na África do Sul, viralizou nas redes sociais e ganhou destaque na imprensa. A imagem, produzida com o uso de um drone, mostrava o impressionante contraste entre a vizinhança rica e branca de Lake Michelle, formada por mansões milionárias à beira de um lago, e a comunidade pobre e negra de Masiphumelele, onde 38 mil pessoas vivem em barracos e se estima que até 35% da população esteja infectada com HIV ou tuberculose. A partir da atenção gerada por essa fotografia, Miller criou o projeto "Unequal Scenes" (Cenas Desiguais) e já viajou para oito países retratando, a partir do alto, com o uso de drones ou helicópteros, como a desigualdade de renda se expressa na arquitetura e na organização urbana das cidades.
