Reflections on December: A Desolate World

The Atmosphere of Decay

  • The speaker describes a world transformed, evoking imagery of desolation and decay, where the once vibrant environment is now filled with dust and fear.
  • There’s a sense of existential dread as the air fails to satisfy the need for breath, highlighting a pervasive anxiety about mortality.
  • The metaphor of rain becomes toxic, symbolizing how even natural elements have turned against humanity in this bleak landscape.

Shared Human Experience

  • Hunger and thirst are universal experiences shared among people in this desolate setting, emphasizing collective suffering amidst environmental collapse.
  • The call to awaken from complacency serves as a warning; the night symbolizes danger while day brings its own threats.

Nature's Resilience Amidst Ruin

Insect Life and Transformation

  • Ant colonies symbolize resilience; they navigate through their environment despite challenges, reflecting broader themes of survival.
  • The narrative shifts to focus on transformation within nature, illustrating how life persists even in adverse conditions.

Interconnectedness of Life Forms

  • A deep connection between insects and plants is explored; ants dream of symbiotic relationships with photosynthetic beings, showcasing interdependence in ecosystems.

Rebirth Through Fungi: A New Era

Emergence of Fungal Life

  • Fungi represent renewal after death; they flourish where bodies once lay, suggesting cycles of life and decay that are essential for ecological balance.
  • Flowers emerge from graves as symbols of hope amidst horror; they signify beauty arising from tragedy.

Identity and Memory

  • The speaker grapples with identity amid chaos; memories intertwine with nature’s rebirth as past lives influence present existence.
  • Reflecting on personal history reveals struggles with self-recognition in a transformed world filled with remnants of former identities.

Embracing Change: A New Existence

Evolution Beyond Humanity

  • As transformations occur within individuals post-contagion, there’s an exploration into what it means to exist beyond traditional human forms.

Hope Amidst Uncertainty

  • Despite fears surrounding change and contagion, there’s an optimistic vision for creating a loving world intertwined with nature's elements—water and shadow.

A host voice alters them, distances them from themselves, but also unites them. What is behind Fungifuturism and what is its last link to prey on? A pathogen begins to spread throughout Mexico, in search of different living species that guarantee its existence. Its predation provokes in them unexpected breakdowns, changes of vision, delirium. Throughout the book, and from different perspectives, we can witness the arrival of Fungifuturism. Through intertextuality and appropriation, this work divided into five parts integrates a dialogue between scientific language, the voice of poets of past centuries and the vox populi: sayings, songs, children's games... All of them become, little by little, a collective voice and infect each other to form a horde, a zombie poetics.
