Getting Started with Julia 3D Printers

Initial Setup and Calibration

  • The process begins with leveling and calibrating the nozzle height, which is crucial for achieving high-quality 3D prints. A print plate is used to assist in this setup.
  • After turning on the printer, the pen leveling process is initiated via the graphic LCD by selecting "Bend Leveling Resort."
  • It's important to ensure that there is no debris on the nozzle tip before proceeding. All leveling screws are unlocked as per instructions displayed on the tent display.
  • The bed is locked at three different positions after being depressed by the nozzle, completing the initial bed leveling step.

Nozzle Height Calibration

  • A sheet of paper is placed between the nozzle and bed to calibrate height. The dial is turned clockwise to bring the bed closer until slight friction with the nozzle is felt.
  • Following calibration, auto-pull preparation begins, moving the bed down while heating up to PLA temperature for optimal printing conditions.

Loading Filament

  • Once at desired temperature, a spool holder and PDF guide holder are installed on designated slots of the printer before placing a spool of plastic.
  • Care must be taken while unspooling filament; one side should be held to prevent tangling. The filament chain needs to be pushed into place while pressing down a lever on the extruder until it emerges from the nozzle.

Starting 3D Printing Process

  • With calibration complete and filament loaded, an SD card containing G-code for a pre-sliced file is inserted into its slot. The display prompts navigation options for initiating printing from SD.
