Introduction
In this section, the speaker introduces the topic of the video and explains how to approach analyzing fixtures for the upcoming season.
Analyzing Fixtures for the Upcoming Season
- The first 8-10 game weeks are the most important to consider when analyzing fixtures.
- Teams with green fixtures are expected to perform well based on their past performance, while teams with red fixtures may struggle.
- The speaker has created a fixture difficulty rating system that assigns points to each team's fixtures based on their difficulty.
- The fixture difficulty rating system takes into account a decay factor that decreases in importance as the season progresses.
Fixture Difficulty Rating System
In this section, the speaker explains how they have derived a fixture difficulty rating system and how it can be used to analyze team performance.
How Fixture Difficulty Ratings Are Assigned
- Fixtures are classified as green (3 points), white (2 points), or red (1 point).
- A decay factor is applied to each fixture from gameweek 1 to gameweek 10, with gameweek 1 being assigned the highest importance.
- The fixture difficulty ratings are then transformed back into a ticker format that shows each team's overall strength of schedule.
Examples of High-Rated Teams
- Brentford is surprisingly high up in terms of fixture difficulty ratings.
- Chelsea has a great run of games after playing Liverpool and could be a good choice for fantasy football defenders.
Fixture Difficulty Rating
In this section, the speaker discusses the fixture difficulty rating for various teams in the upcoming season.
Top Teams
- Manchester City has the best strength of schedule.
- Manchester United also has a great strength of schedule and benefits from not having to face Liverpool at Anfield.
- Brentford is a surprise team with many green fixtures. They have interesting assets like Flecken and Mbumo who could be fantastic deputizing as Tony left.
Other Teams
- Brighton seems like a team where you can actually maybe go for someone in game week one because they have some great games from Gaming's one to three and then it gets super tough between that run of four to nine where they actually have to face United Liverpool in the city so that's going to be a really tough run uh in my opinion for Brighton so I would actually think about maybe starting with the Brighton asset maybe then switch them into an Aston Villa asset because as you can see as the Run starts to get worse for Brighton Aston Villa becomes quite interesting.
- Everton Defenders may be budget steals due to their good home games against Wolves, Luton, and Bournemouth at home.
- West Ham is not too exciting due to their tough beginning fixtures against City and Liverpool even Newcastle and Brighton.
- Promoted teams do not seem too interesting. Nottingham Forest had a great run of games near the end but there's no talismatic player that immediately comes to mind.
Budget Forwards
If we don't get any good steals from top 10 bracket teams, we just simply have to tap into some of the budget forwards in these territories.
