How to Connect a Forward Reverse Switch with VFD

Introduction to the Setup

  • The setup involves using a single-phase 220 volt CNC VFD and a three-phase motor.

Power Wiring Connection

  • The initial step involves connecting the 220 volt input to the VFD using a DP MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) and an Earth link.
  • Phase and neutral wires are connected in the MCB, along with an Earth wire linked appropriately.
  • After establishing power wiring, the output from the MCB is connected to the VFD, completing this phase of wiring.

Control Wiring Configuration

  • The control wiring connects an external forward reverse switch to control the VFD. This switch includes three components:
  • One NC (Normally Closed) switch for stop,
  • One NO (Normally Open) switch for forward,
  • Another NO switch for reverse.
  • A wire is connected from the GND D terminal on the VFD to one terminal of the NC switch, looping through other switches as specified.

Parameter Settings in VFD

  • After completing control wiring, parameters must be set in the VFD for proper operation via external switches.
  • Steps include pressing program on the VFD and navigating through specific parameter settings:
  • Set P0.02 to '1',
  • Set P4.00 DI1 to '3',
  • Set P4.01 DI2 to '1',
  • Set P4.02 DI3 to '2',
  • Finally, set P4.21 to '1'.
