HOW I LOST FAT, TONED UP & CHANGED MY MINDSET | 5 TIPS

My Summer 2020 Transformation

In this video, the speaker talks about her transformation in summer 2020 and how she achieved it. She shares tips on nutrition, exercise, and mindset.

Nutrition Matters

  • Macros are not enough: Eating a diet of almost entirely processed foods to fulfill macro nutrient goals is far from a healthy, holistic, balanced approach.
  • Educate yourself: Read books by experts, listen to podcasts, watch TED Talks or YouTube videos by these experts.
  • Michael Greger: He has a book called "How Not to Diet" which explains why following a more heavily plant-based diet is kind of the way forward.
  • Gut health: The book "Gut" is all about your gut health and how important that is and how much that affects so many areas of your life not just how you look and feel.
  • Deliciously Ella's podcast: It gets amazing expert guest speakers on who talk about everything from nutrition exercise mental health so many different things.

Exercise for You

  • No one-size-fits-all approach: There is not a one-size-fits-all approach to exercise. You need to find the type of exercise that you enjoy and is sustainable for you.
  • Find what works for you: Try different types of exercises until you find what works best for you.

Mindset Shift

  • Real glow up: The mindset changed my energy levels clear skin and my happiness that's the real glow up it's so good
  • Share experience: For the first time I'd actually sit down with you and tell you in detail what changed why it changed and how it can help you too.
  • Educate yourself: Please educate yourself on the topic of nutrition.
  • Life-changing thing: Michael Greger's Google talk was really when my mindset fully shifted.
  • Gut health: The book "Gut" is all about your gut health and how important that is and how much that affects so many areas of your life not just how you look and feel.

Retraining Your Mindset

In this section, the speaker talks about how she used to have a toxic mindset towards exercise and how the pandemic helped her retrain her mindset. She also discusses the importance of doing different types of exercises and not sticking to the same routine.

Exercise Routine

  • The speaker used to believe that if she didn't do the exact same split for three years, she would lose all her progress.
  • During the pandemic, she experimented with home workouts, long walks, and gentle pilates-type movements.
  • She realized that her body wasn't changing much and started looking forward to working out as a way of showing gratitude to her body.
  • Doing multiple types of exercise in a week works better than doing the same thing week after week.
  • As long as you keep your body moving most days of the week, you're on track.

Substitutes

  • The speaker recommends substitutes like lentil pasta, pea pasta, chickpea pasta instead of white pasta; rye bread instead of white bread; dark chocolate in replacement of dairy milk.
  • Nutritional value and micronutrients in substitutes are far better than processed alternatives.

Learning To Cook At Home

In this section, the speaker talks about how she learned to cook at home during lockdown and why it's important for managing weight or achieving goals.

Cooking At Home

  • The speaker used to get delivery five nights a week because cooking felt like too much effort.
  • Over time, she took more time to learn new recipes by buying recipe books and using apps.
  • Eating home-cooked food is always the best option if you're looking to manage your weight or achieve some kind of goal because you know what's in your food.

  • What we put into our bodies has an enormous impact on our health.

Importance of Mindset

  • Shifting your mindset and mental well-being is crucial for sustainable health.
  • Being grateful for your body's ability to function motivates healthy eating habits and daily exercise.
  • Listen to your body; it tells you when you need fuel or when something is off.

Understanding Your Body's Reactions

In this section, the speaker discusses how important it is to understand your body's reactions.

Listening To Your Body

  • Do not try to outsmart or ignore your body; it has evolved over thousands of years to keep us alive and healthy.
  • If you're hungry, eat. If you experience painful bloating after meals, see an expert as there may be an intolerance or allergy present.
  • Lethargy or skin breakouts could indicate that something is off in your diet.
