Kashmir: A Struggle for Rights and Identity
Daily Struggles of Kashmiris
- The daily life of Kashmiris is marked by new challenges, as their blood, dignity, and lives are undervalued by Indian forces. The brutality faced is so severe that it would shame even the concept of barbarism.
- India has historically been an enemy to Muslims and humanity, engaging in violent acts against Kashmiris while disregarding international norms and human rights.
Systematic Oppression
- Continuous oppression is inflicted upon Kashmiris, with their basic human rights being violated. Their future is being pushed into darkness as part of a long-standing imperialist dream to dominate the region.
- Various tactics have been employed to convert the Muslim majority in Kashmir into a minority, resulting in nearly 100,000 deaths among Kashmiris due to violence and imprisonment in different jails across India.
Significant Events
- The abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019, marked a significant escalation in India's actions against Kashmiris, effectively turning the region into what has been described as the world's largest prison. Millions were confined to their homes under a lockdown that dehumanized them.
- India's fear extends beyond just the Muslim majority; there are efforts to settle extremist Hindus in Jammu & Kashmir to alter demographic ratios and erase local identities—actions that violate international laws and UN resolutions.
Resistance Against Oppression
- Despite attempts to suppress their voices through forceful means, history shows that no matter how deep the shadows of oppression may be, truth will eventually prevail. The brutal policies enforced by Indian authorities have turned life for Kashmiris into a struggle for survival.
- Prominent figures like P Chidambaram acknowledge that Kashmir has transformed into a large prison under Modi's government since August 5th; this day will be remembered alongside October 27th, 1947 as another dark chapter in Kashmiri history.
Future Aspirations
- Leaders from various Kashmiri groups assert that India's attempt to nullify Articles 370 and 35A aims at equating Jammu & Kashmir with other Indian states permanently—a desire they believe will never be fulfilled as Kashmiri people refuse to accept illegitimate control over their land despite facing extreme hardships. This resilient community continues sacrificing everything for their freedom movement.
