Diagrama de Pareto
Understanding the Pareto Diagram
What is a Pareto Diagram?
- The Pareto diagram, also known as the 80/20 rule or ABC distribution, stems from Wilfredo Pareto's rigorous analyses. It illustrates that 80% of consequences arise from 20% of causes, a principle widely recognized as the Pareto Principle.
Purpose and Application
- This diagram visually represents the aforementioned rule through a bar chart format, organizing causes in descending order. This allows for easy identification of the critical 20% that leads to 80% of problems, enabling focused problem-solving efforts.
- The Pareto diagram is applicable across various fields and supports continuous improvement by showcasing situations before and after interventions, thus facilitating analysis and prioritization of issues.
Steps to Create a Pareto Diagram
- Define Your Objective: Clearly outline what you aim to analyze and identify the specific problem or phenomenon at hand.
- Identify Causes: Determine which factors or causes will be analyzed in relation to your defined objective.
- Data Collection: Gather relevant data concerning the identified causes for further analysis.
- Data Organization: Sort collected data from highest to lowest values to prepare for visualization in the diagram.
- Calculations: Perform necessary calculations including cumulative totals, percentages, and cumulative percentages to finalize your diagram layout with causes on the x-axis and accumulated percentages on both y-axes (left for total accumulation and right for percentage). Analyze results to make informed decisions based on this visual representation of data trends.
