Sócrates es uno de mis filósofos favoritos, y siempre se ha considerado que parte la historia de la filosofía en dos, iniciando un movimiento que culmina en Platón y Aristóteles. Por eso se llama "presocráticos" a los filósofos anteriores a él (como Tales de Mileto, Anaxímenes, Anaximandro, Heráclito, Parménides, Empédocles, Anaxágoras o Demócrito). Sócrates se aparta del interés por la filosofía natural que caracteriza el pensamiento presocrático y se ocupa sobre todo del hombre y de la virtud. Qué es la virtud y cómo podemos alcanzarla es su preocupación principal. Además de redefinir el objeto de estudio de la filosofía, Sócrates innova en cuanto al método, hasta el punto de que se suele asociar su persona con un modo muy concreto de hacer preguntas. Lo que Sócrates hacía era interactuar con aquellas personas que pretendían ser sabias o entendidas acerca de un tema y conseguía, por medio de ingeniosas preguntas, acabar llevándoles a contradicción, lo cual demostraba que en realidad eran ignorantes (y peor, ignorantes de su propia ignorancia). Este método recibe numerosos nombres: dialéctica, ironía socrática, mayéutica, método mayéutico… ¡No te preocupes, que te lo explico en el vídeo! Vamos a ver este método en acción con el diálogo "Hipias Menor", en el que Sócrates interroga a Hipias acerca de la piedad. ¡Ya veréis que Sócrates es el Thug Life de Atenas!
