How to find Book via OPAC - UiTM LIBRARY GUIDE
How to Search for Books in the Library Collection
Accessing the Library Website
- Begin by visiting the library website at library.uitn.edu.
- Click on the "Our Collections" tab, then select "Open OPEC," which stands for Online Public Access Catalog.
Logging In and Guest Access
- Enter your staff or student ID in the user ID box and your IC (without hyphen) or passport number as a password.
- If you encounter an invalid login credential pop-up, contact support via chat with a librarian; only active staff or students can access OPEC.
- Alternatively, users may continue as guests if they do not have active credentials.
Searching Options Available
- Users can choose from three types of searches: basic, advanced, or additional search.
- Advanced and additional searches allow filtering and combining multiple keywords to refine results based on preferences.
- Browsing options include searching by author, title, class number, subject, publisher, or place of publication.
Performing Searches
- To initiate a search, enter any keyword (e.g., "forensic") and utilize specific library location options if needed.
- Results can be sorted based on popularity or ascending order; items available on shelves are marked with a green tick icon.
Detailed Search Techniques
- For advanced searches, combine keywords using Boolean operators (AND/OR/NOT), along with filters like location and publishing year.
- Example searches include combinations such as "forensic AND Malaysia" yielding six results or "forensic OR crime AND Asia" yielding two results.
