El trabajo en la ODPE
Overview of ODP Functions
Introduction to ODP
- Micaela and Juan introduce the concept of ODP (Decentralized Office of Electoral Processes) as temporary offices established nationwide during elections, operational for about four months.
- Each ODP is led by a chief who manages both administrative and operational teams responsible for electoral missions within their jurisdiction.
Key Responsibilities of ODP
- The team includes an administrative coordinator and various staff members tasked with critical election functions such as verifying polling locations, organizing member draws, and training personnel.
- The training coordinator is specifically responsible for organizing and executing training strategies like workshops, reinforcement meetings, and training sessions.
Processing Election Results
- After voting concludes, election results are processed at the ODP's computing center where ballots are counted and recorded.
Operational Structure of ODP
Role of District Offices
- To manage diverse geographical challenges in Peru, district offices or population center offices serve as operational branches of the ODP.
- These offices are led by district coordinators or coordinators from population centers who represent the chief in their respective areas.
Coordination with Local Authorities
- District coordinators liaise with local authorities, institutions, media outlets, and citizens to ensure effective communication and coordination during elections.
- Training electoral actors such as table members and voters is also a significant responsibility handled by trainers at the district level.
Support Roles During Elections
- Key personnel include voting location coordinators who ensure smooth operations on election day and table coordinators who assist table members throughout the voting process.
