  • An easy way to remember the meaning of frequency adverbs is to match them with percentages:
  • Always: 100%
  • Almost always: about 95%
  • Usually and often: about 80%
  • Sometimes: around 50%
  • Seldom and not very often: about 20%
  • Rarely: around 10%
  • Almost never: about 5%
  • Never: 0%

Sentence Patterns for Adverbs of Frequency

  • There are three common sentence patterns for adverbs of frequency in English:
  1. Be plus adverb pattern:
  • Example: "She is never late."
  1. Adverb plus verb pattern:
  • Example: "We usually eat lunch in the cafeteria."
