Running a Remote Moderated Usability Test: Part 2

In this video, the speaker provides tips on how to conduct a remote moderated usability test. The video covers how to start the session, administer tasks, provide reassurance to participants, and wrap up the session.

Starting the Session

  • Before beginning the session, ask interview questions relevant to the test.
  • Administer the first task with written instructions that participants can refer back to.
  • Provide reassurance to participants by telling them they are doing a great job thinking out loud.

Wrapping Up the Session

  • Ask any remaining follow-up questions and thank the participant.
  • Tell participants specifically how and when they will receive their incentive.
  • Schedule at least 15 minutes at the end of each session for discussion with observers and reflection on what was seen so far.

Reflection Workshop

  • Schedule a larger research reflection workshop with observers at the end of the study to review and discuss findings.
