Tips for Writing Effective Essays

• Students are encouraged to form groups of up to 5 people, ensuring tasks are well-distributed among members.

Choosing a Case and Defining Your Position

• Begin by carefully reading the assignment prompt and selecting a case presented by the professor, such as "The obligation of vaccination as a solidarity act."

• After choosing a case, define your stance by asking critical questions about ethical implications and societal impact.

Structuring Arguments

• A strong argument should exhibit clarity (no ambiguities), consistency (based on information), and coherence (arguments support each other).

• Arguments must be impartial, relying on facts rather than opinions or biases. The essay structure should clearly delineate introduction, body, and conclusion.

Crafting the Introduction

• The introduction should present context, controversy, and your position succinctly while ensuring relevance to the chosen case.

• For example, in discussing COVID-19 vaccination in Peru, clarify ethical dilemmas surrounding mandatory vaccination compared to other countries.

Developing Your Argument

• In the body of the essay, all arguments must align with your chosen position; develop them logically using supporting ideas from proposed sources.

Concluding Your Essay
