Wuduʼ lernen - die Gebetswaschung
The Ritual Ablution (Wudu)
Steps of Performing Wudu
- Before starting the ablution, it is essential to glorify Allah by saying: "Bismillahi arrahmani arrahim" (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful).
- Begin by washing hands up to the wrists three times, ensuring that water reaches between the fingers.
- Rinse the mouth three times in an action known as "madmadah," followed by washing the nose by inhaling water and blowing it out three times (referred to as "Istinshaq" and "Istinthar").
- Wash your face three times, making sure that water covers from ear to ear and from forehead to chin.
- Proceed to wash both lower arms three times from fingertips to elbows, starting with the right arm followed by the left. Then wipe over your head once from front to back.
Completing Wudu
- After wiping your head, wash both ears inside and out once using the same water used for wiping your head.
- Finally, wash your feet from toes up to ankles three times, ensuring that water reaches between each toe; start with the right foot before moving on to the left foot.
