In today’s rapidly evolving business environment, trends are often misinterpreted, and the true essence of professionalism is not always fully appreciated. Heightened competition—driven by natural disasters, economic pressures, and the urgent pursuit of immediate profits—has created significant challenges for the business community. At the same time, there is a growing belief that artificial intelligence can deliver certain services without human involvement. While AI undoubtedly offers valuable tools, it cannot replace the creativity, expertise, and accountability that professionals bring to specialized fields. Architecture, in particular, demands a deep understanding of design, functionality, sustainability, and cultural context—qualities that only a trained architect can provide. To address this need, I sought to educate audiences on the importance of engaging qualified architects for their design requirements. An edited version of a short interview originally telecast by the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation has been prepared to guide individuals in search of an architect. This resource highlights the scope of architectural services, professional responsibilities, and fee structures, offering clarity to those considering architectural support for their projects. By presenting this information, the aim is to foster informed decision-making and reinforce the value of professionalism in architecture—ensuring that clients receive designs that are not only functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also ethically and sustainably conceived.
