The Water Cycle: Understanding Earth's Water Movement
Overview of the Water Cycle
- The water cycle is a continuous process that recycles water on Earth, moving it from land to sky and back again.
- There are four main stages in the water cycle: evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection.
Stages of the Water Cycle
Evaporation
- Evaporation occurs when the sun heats up water found in lakes, rivers, and seas, transforming it into water vapor.
Condensation
- After evaporation, condensation takes place as the water vapor cools down and changes into small droplets of water.
- These droplets aggregate to form clouds, which consist of millions of tiny water droplets.
