Antibiograma Método Kirby Bauer
Antibiogram Procedure Using Kirby-Bauer Method
Overview of the Antibiogram Process
- The antibiogram is performed after isolating the problematic bacteria in pure culture, utilizing a sterilized inoculating loop to create a suspension.
- A saline solution with turbidity equivalent to 0.5 on the McFarland scale is prepared for inoculation, ensuring accurate bacterial density for testing.
- Sterilized tweezers are used to place antibiotic discs on the agar plate, maintaining a distance of at least 15 mm from the edge and sufficient spacing between discs to avoid overlapping inhibition zones.
Incubation and Interpretation
- After placing the discs, plates should rest at room temperature for about 15 minutes before incubation at 37°C for 24 hours.
