Introduction

The video begins with a brief introduction.

Welcome to Hardcore Enduro

  • George introduces himself as the host of the video.
  • The focus of the video is on riding challenging terrains.
  • George discusses his CD Crossfire threes boots that he has used for the past four years.

Reasons for Changing Boots

George explains why he is changing his boots and highlights some issues with his current CD Crossfire threes boots.

Issues with CD Crossfire Threes Boots

  • The sole of the boots is starting to peel off due to dragging feet and kicking rocks.
  • Velcro on the leg strap is coming off.
  • Other worn spots are present, but the main concern is the sole wearing out.

Choosing Garnet S J or G12s Boots

  • George mentions that he has chosen Garnet S J or G12s boots as a replacement.
  • He clarifies that he won't be reviewing these new boots in this video but will explain why he chose them over CD Crossfire threes.

Durability and Protection of CD Crossfire Threes Boots

George discusses the durability and protection provided by his CD Crossfire threes boots.

Durability of CD Crossfire Threes Boots

  • Despite some wear and tear, George believes that these boots have lasted a long time.
  • He mentions that certain components can be replaced individually if they break or rip off.

Foot and Ankle Protection

  • George emphasizes that his main goal was to have high-end boots for foot and ankle protection.
  • He shares that despite numerous falls, kicks, drops, and stomps, his foot and ankle have remained uninjured while wearing these boots.
  • The buckles on the boots have never broken or popped off.

Wear and Tear of CD Crossfire Threes Boots

George examines the wear and tear of his CD Crossfire threes boots in detail.

Sole Wearing Out

  • George points out that the sole of the boots is worn out, with bubbles and holes.
  • He mentions that he could have replaced them earlier to extend the lifespan of the boots.

Other Worn Areas

  • The sides and padding of the boots show signs of wear, but overall, they have held up well.
  • George believes that these boots would have lasted longer if not for the worn-out soles.

Features and Fit of CD Crossfire Threes Boots

George discusses some features and fit aspects of his CD Crossfire threes boots.

Ankle Protection Hinge

  • The boots have a hinge that prevents excessive forward or backward movement, providing ankle protection.
  • While it doesn't prevent all stress on the ankle, it has helped in preventing overflexion.

Dual Yucco System

  • The dual yucco system allows for a customized fit around different calf sizes.
  • It also accommodates knee braces without any issues.

Stiffness and Tightness

  • George appreciates that even after four years, these boots still feel tight when he puts them on.
  • He believes this indicates their durability and ability to provide adequate protection.

Broken Strap Issue

  • One strap on the boot has broken recently, affecting its locking mechanism.

New Section

In this section, the speaker discusses some issues with the boot and suggests improvements.

Issues with the Boot

  • The speaker mentions that there is a problem with one of the buckles on the boot, which needs frequent readjustment. They regret not replacing it earlier and recommend buying extra buckles as they are cheap.
  • There is a soft spot on all boots near the front of the ankle, which is necessary for flexibility but lacks protection. The speaker suggests adding some kind of armor or soft shell to cover this area and prevent injuries from objects like sticks or foot pegs.
  • Another issue mentioned is that certain parts of the boot stick out and have sharp edges, which can catch on the bike while riding. This can be inconvenient and potentially dangerous.
  • The sole of the boot tends to round off over time, causing it to lose its ability to stand upright. This can be problematic when taking off the boots in dirty environments as they tend to fall over easily.
  • Despite having vents in the boot, excessive sweating still occurs, leading to soaked socks. The speaker always carries extra socks and uses a shoe/boot dryer to keep them dry during breaks.

New Section

In this section, the speaker shares their review of CD's Crossfire threes boots and introduces their new choice of boots - Garnet.

Review of CD's Crossfire Threes Boots

  • Overall, the speaker has had no injuries or sprained ankles while wearing these boots for four years. They consider them effective in protecting their feet during rides. However, there are some drawbacks mentioned.
  • One incident involved getting stabbed near the front of their ankle by a stick and foot peg, highlighting the need for additional protection in that area.
  • The protruding edges of certain parts of the boot can catch on the bike while riding, causing inconvenience and potential hazards.
  • The sole of the boot tends to round off over time, making it difficult for the boots to stand upright when taken off. This can be problematic in dirty environments.
  • Despite having vents, excessive sweating still occurs, leading to soaked socks. Extra socks and a shoe/boot dryer are necessary to keep them dry during breaks.

Introduction to Garnet Boots

  • The speaker noticed Graham Jarvis wearing Garnet boots and decided to try them out.
  • Initial impressions include the boots standing up on their own without falling over, which was an issue with CD's Crossfire Threes boots.
  • The inside of the Garnet boots appears smoother and cleaner compared to CD's Crossfire Threes boots, potentially reducing instances of catching on bike parts while moving their feet.
  • The buckles on the Garnet boots are flawless and have not come undone so far. They seem solidly built.
  • The fit of the Garnet boots feels narrower compared to CD's Crossfire Threes boots, providing a snugger fit on both leg and foot.

New Section

In this section, the speaker discusses a specific feature of the boots that prevents dirt from getting caught in them.

Boot Design

  • The boot has a molded nose that prevents dirt from getting caught when dragging the boot.
  • The outside or inside of the boot catches the dirt and helps pry off the sole.
  • This design feature has contributed to the longevity of these boots, as they have withstood various forms of abuse.

New Section

In this section, the speaker concludes their review of the CD Crossfire 3 boots and encourages viewers to check them out if they are within their price range.

Review Conclusion

  • The CD Crossfire 3 boots have been great for the speaker.
  • If these boots are within your price range, it is recommended to give them a try.
  • The durability and performance of these boots have impressed the speaker.
  • Overall, if you have had positive experiences with these boots before or are interested in trying them out, it is worth considering.
