The Epic of Gilgamesh

This section provides an introduction to the Epic of Gilgamesh, which is regarded as the earliest surviving great work of literature and the second oldest religious texts in the world.

The Epic of Gilgamesh

  • The Epic of Gilgamesh is an epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia that combines real-life people and events with occult symbology and Astro theology.
  • It consists of 12 tablets and starts with five Sumerian poems about a powerful King of Uruk.
  • The Babylonian version was titled "he who saw the abyss" or "he who sees the unknown."
  • The first half discusses King Gilgamesh and another character called Enkidu, described as a primitive wild man created by gods to stop King Gilgamesh from oppressing people.

Enkidu's Civilisation

  • Enkidu is then civilized through sex rituals with a prostitute.
  • A new cuneiform tablet has been discovered recently, describing how it took two full weeks of lovemaking to make Enkidu truly human.
  • There are two ways that most people interpret this ritual event which leads to enkidu becoming civilized:
  • Some see it as having to do with literal procreation where the civilizing of enkidu is about creating a new race, a genetic hybridization.
  • Others see it as resulting in an activation of chakras including what some call the third eye and leads to enlightenment.

Rama's Bridge and the Idea of a Different Hominid Species

This section discusses the idea of a different hominid species being hybridized and used as a worker or slave race, which is not exclusive to the Sumerians. The speaker mentions Rama's Bridge, which is controversial, but some scholars point to archaeological evidence and genetics to back up ancient literature.

Rama's Bridge

  • Rama's Bridge was passable on foot until the 15th century when storms deepened the channel.
  • A local Hindu temple claims that Rama's Bridge was entirely above sea level until it broke into cyclone in 1480.
  • Dr. Rangan Reimuk Kasharin, an Indian scholar, said that Ramayana speaks about a variety of human species offering to fill an important gap in human ancestry and evolution through literary support.
  • Interestingly, the protagonist Lord Rama corresponds to sapiens and other vanaras loosely match Homo erectus.

Vanaras

  • Ramayana never mentioned vanaras as monkeys; these species were dominant in southern part of India and ruled South India including Thailand Myanmar Malaysia Indonesia Etc.
  • Vanaras is a Sanskrit word having two parts - one means forest and Nara means human so the literal meaning humans who lived in forests.
  • In-depth analysis suggests that in Sanskrit wanna means forest and Nara means people or men so one simply means people of the forest.
  • The forest tribes of the area called themselves the wanara people and used monkey as a symbol in their totem pole and flag.

Hanuman and Vanaras

This section discusses Hanuman and vanaras, which were not really monkeys but perhaps a tribe with the emblem of monkey as used by the wanara tribe.

Hanuman

  • As per Ramayana text, Kishkinda was the land of the wanara so Hanuman and vanara were not really monkeys but perhaps a tribe with the emblem of monkey as used by the wanara tribe.
  • Even in recent times, it is this which possibly over time led to them being referred to as monkeys.

Enkidu's Transition to Modern Human Being

This section discusses the differences between two episodes that reflect different stages of Enkidu's transition from an archaic primitive animal to a modern human being.

Enkidu's First Visit to Uruk

  • Shama invites Enkidu to Uruk after they have sex for a second week.
  • Most scholars conclude that the first visit reflects Enkidu's initial stage of transition from an archaic primitive animal to a modern human being.
  • Enkidu accepts Shama's invitation but only to challenge Gilgamesh and serve his power.
  • He thinks only in terms of challenging rivals and asserting strength through physical violence.

Enkidu's Second Visit to Uruk

  • Shama invites Enkidu to Uruk again after they have sex for yet another week.
  • This time, she says she will lead him to the temple home of Anu, the god of Heaven.
  • After accepting her invitation, he realizes that each human being is part of a larger social fabric where everyone must find their own place.
  • He learns that human society is not all about domination and strength but also about cooperation and skill.

The Role of Physical Labor in Becoming Fully Human

  • To become fully human, one must participate in the life of the city, which involves physical labor.
  • For Enkidu, this means his role is that of a servant.

Gilgamesh's Journey for Eternal Life

This section discusses how Gilgamesh undertakes a long and perilous journey to discover the secret of eternal life.

Distress Over Enkidu's Death

  • The second half of the Epic is about Gilgamesh's distress over Enkidu's death.
  • This causes him to undertake a long and perilous journey to discover the secret of eternal life.

Gilgamesh's Immortalization in the Stars

  • Although he doesn't quite find it, Gilgamesh is immortalized in the stars as the constellation Orion.
  • This has its origins in Sumerian mythology as it is associated with the story of their hero fighting the bull of Heaven represented by Taurus.

Discovery of Uruk and Gilgamesh's Tomb

This section discusses how a German-led expedition discovered what was thought to be the entire city of Uruk, including the lost tomb of Gilgamesh.

Discovery of Uruk and Its Structures

  • In 2003, a German-led expedition reported that it had discovered what was thought to be the entire city of Uruk.
  • They found structures that had already been described in the Gilgamesh epic, such as garden structures and field structures.
  • They also found Babylonian houses very clearly, along with canals and some structures showing that flooding destroyed some houses.

Possible Discovery of Gilgamesh's Tomb

  • Jorg Fastbinder of the Bavarian Department of Historical Monuments in Munich said that they found an area in the middle of the former Euphrates River which could be interpreted as a burial site similar to that described in the Epic.
  • While much of The Epic Of Gilgamesh was mythology containing astral theology describing cyclical patterns, it could also be interpreted as having symbolic esoteric knowledge found in other mystery teachings pertaining to the immortality of the soul.
  • Gilgamesh was also likely a flesh and blood ruler, the historical king of Uruk during the Holocene.

Humanity's Past and True History

In this section, Robert Sepper, an anthropologist, discusses how humanity's past did not consist of a linear evolution out of Africa but instead was a more complex interaction between advanced and primitive races and cultures. He also mentions that many are in a state of amnesia about their true history and origins.

Complex Interaction Between Advanced and Primitive Races and Cultures

  • Humanity's past did not consist of a linear evolution out of Africa.
  • Instead, it was a more complex interaction between advanced and primitive races and cultures.
  • Many are in a state of amnesia about their true history and origins.

The Epic of Gilgamesh is an epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia that begins with five Sumerian poems dating from the Third Dynasty of Ur (2,000 BC). The Indian Sanskrit epic Ramayana speaks of a bridge over the ocean connecting India with Sri Lanka allegedly built by Vanara (forest people) a "simian" slave army. Evidence for this mythical structure does exist.
