El Silbon
The Legend of El Silbón
The Origin of El Silbón
- El Silbón, known for his whistling, was a capricious and spoiled young man who wasted his life in bars.
- In a fit of rage over being served the wrong food, he demanded deer entrails and stormed out to calm down with friends.
The Tragic Encounter
- His father went hunting to please him but returned empty-handed; in a drunken state, El Silbón brutally attacked his father.
- After killing his father with a hunting rifle, he disemboweled him and packed the entrails in a shirt.
Consequences and Curses
- His grandmother questioned him about the entrails; he showed no remorse, blaming his father's failure to hunt.
- As punishment, his grandfather tied him to a tree, whipped him, cursed him for eternity, and set the dog Tureco on him.
Transformation into Legend
- El Silbón's spirit is said to wander forever pursued by Tureco after collecting his father's bones from the forest.
