A qué sabe la luna? A Journey to Taste the Moon
The Animals' Curiosity
- The story begins with various animals desiring to know what the moon tastes like, wondering if it is sweet or salty. They long to try a piece of it.
- Every night, the animals look up at the sky, stretching their necks, legs, and arms in vain attempts to reach the moon; even the largest animal cannot touch it.
The Turtle's Plan
- One day, a small turtle decides to climb the highest mountain to get closer to the moon. However, she still cannot reach it from that height.
- The turtle calls upon an elephant for help, suggesting that if he climbs on her back, they might be able to reach the moon together.
Attempts by Other Animals
- As each animal tries to help—first the giraffe and then the zebra—the moon playfully moves further away each time they approach.
- When a lion joins in on their quest by climbing onto the turtle’s back, again they fail as the moon retreats once more at his sight.
The Final Efforts
- The fox and then a monkey attempt their luck but find themselves unable to touch the elusive moon. Each time an animal approaches, it seems like a game for the moon.
- Finally, when a mouse climbs onto everyone's backs and reaches out for the moon, it stays put because it's bored of playing hide-and-seek.
A Sweet Surprise
- In an unexpected turn of events, instead of being unreachable forever, the moon takes a bite out of itself and shares pieces with all animals based on what they enjoy most.
- That night, all animals sleep closely together after tasting their beloved piece of "moon," while a fish observes them from below water and wonders why they didn't notice another closer "moon" in their midst.
