- When hormones are high, stimulating autophagy can cause a detox reaction that may make you feel horrible.
Fasting Based on Menstrual Cycle
Days 1-10
- Hormones are low during this period, making fasting easier. Fast for 3 days, 48 hours or 24 hours.
Days 11-15 (Ovulation Time)
- Keep fasts around 15 hours to avoid a detox reaction caused by stimulating autophagy when hormones are high. Personalize your fasting routine based on how you feel.
Days 15-19
- Hormones are low again, so it's an excellent time to do a three-day water fast or longer fasts if desired. Lean into keto and longer fasts to break through weight loss resistance.
Days 20 until the start of the next cycle
- No fasting is recommended during this period as the body is trying to make progesterone, and we don't want to stimulate cortisol in any way shape or form. If fat-adapted, up to 13 hours of fasting is fine but no more than that.
