Sinopsis: Basada en una historia real, sucedida después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Los coristas es una cinta que habla de la importancia de un guía que, en este caso utiliza la música, para lograr sacar adelante a un grupo de jóvenes provenientes de diversos círculos problemáticos. El profesor de música Clément Mathieu llega a una institución de chicos quienes son disciplinados por un director que no permite ningún tipo de falta. Ante las autoritarias prácticas, el hombre busca la manera de que los internos no reciban castigos, sino que reflexionen en torno a la importancia de cuidarse entre ellos mismos. Así, el maestro se propone cambiar el hostil ambiente en el que viven los estudiantes. Su plan consiste en formar un coro que estimule a los menores y en el que todos sean incluidos. El resultado es positivo por lo que profesores y alumnos mejoran su convivencia hasta que llega Mondain, un nuevo interno proveniente de una institución psiquiátrica y quien tiene antecedentes penales. A la par de la llegada del nuevo estudiante, se extravía una cantidad de dinero por lo que Mondain es culpado y castigado por ello. El coro es suspendido temporalmente, pero de manera clandestina el profesor Clément lo mantiene activo pues sabe que la música es la única manera en la que esos jóvenes puedan cambiar. Aunque, la historia ya ha sido contada un sinfín de veces, el valor de esta versión radica en que el director, de origen francés, logra desarrollar la historia de un grupo de personajes que han sido marginados por la ineficacia de un sistema que no los ha sabido comprender y les ha negado cualquier tipo de oportunidad, hasta que alguien cree en ellos y les abre el camino a la redención.
