Getting Started with Blender: Installation and Setup
Introduction to Blender Installation
- The chapter focuses on the basic download and installation of Blender, emphasizing the importance of foundational knowledge across four chapters.
- Users can download Blender from two main sources: the official website Blender.org and the Chinese community site BlenderCN.org. Version 3.5 will be used for teaching, but versions after 3.0 are acceptable.
Downloading Blender
- On the Blender community site, users should click on "Blender 3.5" for faster downloads via domestic mirrors like Tsinghua or Aliyun, depending on their operating system (Windows or MacOS).
- From the official website, clicking the download link typically auto-detects your computer type. Users must select between Intel and Apple Silicon versions if using a Mac.
Installing Blender
- After downloading, users need to double-click the installer, follow prompts (Next > Accept > Next), and complete installation in under a minute. Multiple versions of Blender can be installed simultaneously without interference.
- Upon installation completion, an icon appears on the desktop for launching Blender 3.5. Users can set their preferred language interface upon first launch.
Configuring User Preferences
- After entering Blender, users can adjust settings such as font size and resolution to enhance visibility according to personal preferences.
Hardware Requirements for Running Blender
- Minimum hardware requirements include a 64-bit CPU, at least 8GB RAM, and a graphics card with 2GB memory. A budget-friendly setup is recommended for optimal performance; however, older computers may still meet these specifications.
