Ángulos Complementarios y Suplementarios
Understanding Complementary and Supplementary Angles
Complementary Angles
- Complementary angles are defined as two angles whose measures add up to 90º. When placed adjacent to each other, they form a right angle.
- For example, if given an angle A measuring 20º, the complementary angle B can be calculated by subtracting the measure of angle A from 90º: B = 90º - A.
- In this case, the calculation yields that angle B is 70º. This relationship is crucial for solving problems involving complementary angles.
Supplementary Angles
- Supplementary angles are similar in concept but differ in that their measures sum to 180º. When positioned adjacently, they create a straight line or flat angle.
- For instance, if provided with an angle C measuring 110º, one can find its supplementary angle D by determining what remains to reach 180º: D = 180º - C.
