Procedure for Measuring Solid Mass

Initial Setup and Measurement

• The procedure begins with placing a 50-milliliter beaker on the scale, allowing it to stabilize before recording its mass, which is noted as 39.87 grams.

• Next, 10 grams of sand are measured by adding sand until the scale reads 49.88 grams, using a spatula to ensure precision and stability during measurement.

Achieving Accurate Measurements

• To achieve the required total of 1000 grams, an alternative method involves direct weighing. The beaker's weight (39.87 grams) can be eliminated using a specific key on the scale called "tare."

• After taring the scale, precise measurements of solid mass can be taken directly; care is taken as the measurement approaches 10 grams to ensure accuracy.
